Bobby Freeman was born in 1940 in San Francisco, and only 14 years later he formed his own vocal group The Romancers. After fronting another doowop group The Vocaleers (not to be confused with the Harlem group of Red Robin), at age of 17, Bobby striked up his solo career with crossover hit "Do You Wanna Dance". Of course, today Freeman is best remembered of his well-selling but pretty trivial dance-craze songs like "S-W-I-M", "C'mon And Swim", "The Duck" or "The Mess Around" but believe me - that was just one side of this talented singer's diverse repertoire. |
